Castlemaine Safe Space (CaSS)

A calm and welcoming place, inclusive and welcoming to everyone

Castlemaine Safe Space is a community led, non-clinical, confidential drop-in centre, staffed by trained peer volunteers

Open for anybody who may be:

•       looking for company

•       feeling distressed and wanting a quiet space to be or someone warm, caring and non-judgmental to talk to

•       experiencing suicidal thoughts

•       wanting help that feels safe and allows you to make your own choices

•       supporting a friend or family member in crisis, and would like resources and/or support for themselves.

There are no fees, and no referrals or appointments are necessary - just come on in.

Our policy is to not refer anyone to emergency services unless you request it

Everyone is welcome to attend the space, during our opening hours.

What to expect when you visit

The spaces are warm, welcoming, cosy and well resourced. Guests are greeted on arrival, offered a hot/cool drink and food and provided a comfortable place to sit.

Our volunteers are available to have confidential one-on-one conversation with our guests, listening deeply, empathetically and non-judgmentally.

Guests are offered the option of a discrete one to one conversation, having some time to yourself in a quiet space, or to join other guests for company and conversation.
